Ever thought what your heaven would feel like? Well, we just found ours. The new Mockingbird café bar opened just last week and it was every bit as awesome we thought it would be. The café is owned by Deepak Purohit, owner of Indian Summers and the manager of now shut down Tea Centre. The ‘heaven’ part of the café comes in when we tell you that this café bar offers you more than a thousand books to read at your leisure straight from the owner’s book collection who spent his entire lifetime collecting all these books. ‘The idea was to combine two passions, food and books’, says Deepak. Having sampled the menu i can confidently say the Mockingbird will overtake any eating establishment on the strip. The food is wholesome, affordable and innovative. Their Dhansak Roast chicken is the absolute winner and highly recommended. Roasted to perfection the chicken is succulent and aromatic. They have an in-house bakery and freshly baked breads which is evident in the pizza they serve...... sheer poetry. They also make their own pasta and the fettuccine is sublime. Their panna cotta is actually made of double cream unlike most of the gelatine laden versions floating around and seasoned with fresh vanilla from pods. I look forward to sampling their entire menu. Hurray for foodies in mumbai!
